Tower Semiconductor puts $3bn into Japan, and Tokyo is paying for a third of it

Tower Semiconductor is investing $3 billion in expanding its 300mm silicon photonics operations in Japan, with the Japanese government contributing about $1 billion in grants. The move is aimed at meeting the growing demand for optical components in AI data centers.
